SafeSplash Partners with Austism Speaks Foundation

SafeSplash Swim Schools in Utah have partnered with the Autism Speaks Foundation to offer 20 scholarships to autistic students to swim at the Salt Lake and Sandy swim schools. This program has given 18 new families and 2 current families the opportunity to have three months of group lessons at the two Utah swim schools.

SafeSplash Swim School offers students of all levels and abilities the opportunity to swim in our schools. We strongly believe that swimming is a life-long safety skill and that all children should have the opportunity to learn water safety skills in a fun, loving environment.

Many children with autism spectrum disorder do not have the opportunity to take swim lessons. This is why we are so excited to partner with Autism Speaks! While SafeSplash always accepts students with special needs, we were honored to receive this award to give financially disadvantaged families the opportunity to enroll their ASD students in our program. Most students have never had the chance to take swim lessons due to their diagnosis and or financial constraints.

Our Autism Speaks Scholars began lessons in November and will continue through January. We are ecstatic to have these students as part of our program and love the wonderful spirit they bring to swim lessons.

We hope to continue this program and continue partnering with Autism Speaks in Utah. If you know of any friends or families with children on the Autism Spectrum who would benefit from swim lesson scholarships, have them contact Arielle Newman for news about next year’s scholarship program at Arielle@safesplash.com.
