It’s all over the news, stress and anxiety levels in children are increasing at an alarming rate. While you may have scheduled swim lessons for practical reasons, by all means it IS a great work and vitally important to keeping children safe. Did you also know that swimming can help reduce stress and anxiety as well? Here are a few of the reasons why:
Lisa Adams, mom of Houston SafeSplash franchisee and two time Olympian Cammile Adams, has lived the majority of her life around the pool. “As the girls grew up, we spent countless hours at swim meets around the county” Lisa remembers. Lisa followed Cammile and her twin sister, Ashley, to swim practices and meets year after year after year.
However, Lisa never truly learned the skill part of swimming. “The girls would always joke around with me and tell their friends I didn’t know how to swim. I never really thought much of it. Even after Cammile made the Olympic team, I never thought that I should take lessons and learn the proper skills.”
Summer is fast approaching, and we are excited! The splash of cool water when you jump into a pool is an experience which we all enjoy. When the summer sun comes up, everyone is happily picking up their swimming gear and hurrying towards the pool. Whether it is to practice or it is to exercise, we are all going to have fun at the pool.
I will try almost any endurance/ultra-event… at least once. If someone asks me to do something crazy, I’m almost always game to do it! “Why not get the experience?” is what my internal voice is often saying. It's how I’ve gotten into most everything I love to do. And as much as it tells me what I love, it tells me what I hate.
Being an instructor at SafeSplash we know that a healthy body and mind are key to success! When I'm not training my body you can find me with my nose in a book.
