Did you know that when he was young, Michael Phelps was afraid of having water on his face? The old saying, "You have to start somewhere", has always rung true. Sometimes it is easy to forget that every amazing athlete, no matter their current prestige, started as a beginner and understanding how preliminary steps, lessons, and small time races can build to the world record shattering results is its own challenge for wouldbe superstars. If you are just starting out, when the going gets tough, you might just need some inspiration. Here are 3 videos from USA Swimming and The Olympic Channel that tug the heartstrings and remind us that behind every champion is a story of a kid with a dream.
We all have people in our lives that we love and support. Our best friends get the best of us. We would do anything for them. We help them when they are in need. We encourage them onward. We act as a cheering squad. We compliment them. We are there on the good days and there on the bad days. We drop what we can in order to be with them when they need. We love them. But how do we often treat ourselves?
People are pretty amazing! Whether if it's amazing feats of science, medicine, or athleticism, humans are pretty incredible. Honestly, just getting through the day is a feat in itself some days. Taking a look at some Guinness World Records makes that all the more obvious though! Here are 5 amazing Guinness World Records in swimming (of course)!
If you haven’t discovered bath bombs yet you are in for a treat! Bath bombs are these little spherical “bombs” that fizz when you drop them in the water. The fizz is caused by the reaction of the ingredients coming in contact with water. Besides being a fun way to pamper yourself or your loved ones, they are easy to make with your little ones and they have great properties that help relieve many symptoms. In this case, we are treating cold and sinus ailments!
So lets get started!
As our family heads into its seventh season of Summer Swim Team with our two oldest children, Jake age 12 and Kate age 8, I thought it would be appropriate to share our family experiences with this once a year SUPER FUN event. Our two oldest children always look forward to Summer Swim Team. Having participated on Summer Swim Teams since they were 5 this time of year becomes one of the most exciting times. For the next couple of months, they will be a part of a Summer Swim Team, they will interact with friends (socially and competitively), make a ton of new friends, stay healthy and active during the summer, and most importantly have a ton of FUN. Some of our best summer memories have been made thanks to our time on our summer swim teams.
