It is truly important to Brian and me at SafeSplash-Austin that we can help EVERYONE learn how to swim, regardless of their fears or challenges. Autism is a complicated and often misunderstood disease that can isolate children and keep them from taking part in activities that many of us take for granted. Every child on this planet is unique and has their own strengths and weaknesses. The same is so for children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). While their condition may make it a bit more difficult to discover what makes them tick, that extra investment of time and patience is well worth the effort.
It’s no wonder Glenda the Good traveled by bubble! I can think of very few things not GOOD about bubbles. They might be a little messy at times and they don’t last very long, but they are so GRAND in their fragility. Bubbles are a beautiful analogy for life itself. And frankly, I believe they can change the world. They certainly have the power to change mine.
Batman v/s Superman. Captain America: A Civil War? REALLY? These are all supposed to be the good guys people! IF comic book characters were not so heavily marketed towards young children, I’d say, “Go for it”, “What evs…it’s just a movie.” In real life, the lines between the good and the bad are often blurry. Just look at our nation’s 2016 political primaries. It is dark gray; the world media and the campaigns themselves have been dead set on polarizing these candidates hoping to lead our great country. We want a Superhero to guide our people and defeat the enemies of the world. As adults, we know that Superhero is just a relative term, BUT kids…Kids believe in Superheroes!
I LOVE the Oscars! I love the Oscars even more than I hate post-holiday winter. Every year, I find January to be on the brutal side…like one month-long holiday hangover. I feel lost and sad after the beautiful and exhausting chaos of the previous year explodes with the New Year’s skies. I try to be inspired by grocery store magazine resolutions and fitness makeovers plastered throughout social media. But each year brings mixed results and I often still feel kinda lonely…until I hit my Oscar groove, my reason for this dreary season.
