The deck supervisor is a lifeguard on duty. They are responsible for observing and patrolling the pool area, enforcing safety regulations as outlined in American Red Cross Lifeguard standards. Deck supervisors are also responsible for assisting swimmers in and around the pool area as well as swim instructors, as needed. Other duties include: efficiently managing swim class attendance, assisting swimmers from the lobby to the pool area, promptly keeping classes operating as scheduled, minor pool maintenance and upkeep and other duties as outlined by the management staff.
- Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the pool area; act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of customers in the event of an emergency.
- Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Prepare and maintain appropriate incident reports.
- Present professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain a high level of customer service.
- The secondary focus is to guide the swimmers from the lobby to their classes in a timely manner as outlined by management. This will include making sure that the students are properly prepared for swim lessons.
- Efficiently manage daily class routines without taking away from class safety including: attendance, ribbon changes, swimmer needs, instructor needs and assist customers as necessary.
- Perform various duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Keep and maintain Red Cross Lifeguard certification, Red Cross CPR/AED certification for adult, infant and swimmer.
- Previous swim instruction experience is required.
- Must be able to successfully complete all lifeguard prerequisites to American Red Cross standards.
- Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 75 pounds.
