Deck Supervisor

Job Description

The deck supervisor is a lifeguard on duty. They are responsible for observing and patrolling the pool area, enforcing safety regulations as outlined in American Red Cross Lifeguard standards. Deck supervisors are also responsible for assisting swimmers in and around the pool area as well as swim instructors, as needed. Other duties include: efficiently managing swim class attendance, assisting swimmers from the lobby to the pool area, promptly keeping classes operating as scheduled, minor pool maintenance and upkeep and other duties as outlined by the management staff.

Responsibilities

- Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the pool area; act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of customers in the event of an emergency.
- Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Prepare and maintain appropriate incident reports.
- Present professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain a high level of customer service.
- The secondary focus is to guide the swimmers from the lobby to their classes in a timely manner as outlined by management. This will include making sure that the students are properly prepared for swim lessons.
- Efficiently manage daily class routines without taking away from class safety including: attendance, ribbon changes, swimmer needs, instructor needs and assist customers as necessary.
- Perform various duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.

Qualifications

- Keep and maintain Red Cross Lifeguard certification, Red Cross CPR/AED certification for adult, infant and swimmer.
- Previous swim instruction experience is required.
- Must be able to successfully complete all lifeguard prerequisites to American Red Cross standards.
- Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 75 pounds.

Level I Instructor

Job Description

SafeSplash + SwimLabs is a year-round, indoor swim school for children and adults who are learning to swim, as well as a training facility for competitive swimmers and triathletes. We are looking for self-motivated, energetic, personable individuals to become part of our team.

The ideal candidate has a passion for swimming, stroke technique, and values continuous education. You must enjoy working with swimmers of all ages and abilities, from new swimmers to national level swimmers. You should have a welcoming, bright personality, professional appearance, be very well organized, punctual and have a positive can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

This list includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Teaches group swim classes and private lessons to all ages and abilities; conducts lessons according to SafeSplash and SwimLabs training; upholds company core values and displays competence in performing expectations.
  • Provides accountability by submitting lesson plans in a timely manner; completes skill tracking for all; communicates issues or questions to management.
  • Establishes strategic goals by using lesson plans; builds relationships with clients; is prepared to teach upon arrival to work; is safe and competent to be left alone.

Level II Swim Coach

Job Description

SwimLabs is a year-round, indoor swim school for children and adults who are learning to swim, as well as a training facility for competitive swimmers and triathletes. We are looking for self-motivated, energetic, personable individuals to become part of our team.  It is the technical swim component for competitive swimmers in the SafeSplash + SwimLabs facility.

The ideal candidate has a passion for swimming, stroke technique, and values continuous education. You must enjoy working with swimmers of all ages and abilities, from new swimmers to national level swimmers. You should have a welcoming, bright personality, professional appearance, be very well organized, punctual and have a positive can-do attitude.

This position may contain a teaching mix of Level I and Level II, depending on the demand for competitive lessons. Please review the Level I Instructor job description for details.

Responsibilities

This list includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Coach and instruct competitive and elite swimmers and/or triathletes of all ages and abilities.
  • Develop and implement training programs that focus on improving technique, stroke, speed, and style.
  • Assist each swimmer to set and achieve individual goals
  • Utilize and execute a session using "Dartfish Video Analysis" software in order to analyze strokes, techniques and monitor progress
  • Works with Aquatics Manager to provide personal and social development for skills by developing and improving technical and physical skills of swimming.
  • Participate in swim team days by providing instruction & detailed video stroke analysis sessions
  • Participate in SwimLabs "Starts & Turns" Clinics - providing in-water guidance on effective racing starts and turns for competitive efficiency
  • Attend SwimLabs continuing education offerings
  • Ensure the safety of all members and guests; Promotes and enforces safe behaviors and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with SwimLabs policies and procedures
  • Maintain a clean working environment and is free from hazards
  • Must follow all policies and procedures set forth in the Employee Handbook

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Strong background in swimming, including being on a competitive swim team at the high school and collegiate levels
  • Previous swim and/or triathlon coaching experience required (minimum of 3 years)
  • Competitive experience in triathlon and/or open water racing preferred
  • Current Swimming and/or Triathlon coaching certification (i.e., USA Swimming, USA Triathlon and/or Ironman) highly preferred
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certifications is required (mush have prior to working)
  • Must successfully pass a background check

Aquatics Manager

Job Description

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Aquatics Manager oversees the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and administration of the SafeSplash facility. They will work with the Aquatics Manager on the SwimLabs side of the facility, which contains the SwimLabs swim tanks. The SafeSplash Aquatics Manager oversees the hiring, training, testing, scheduling, and certification of staff and coaches of the SafeSplash learn-to-swim facility. They develop and implement programs using SafeSplash curriculum and ensures that all appropriate water health and safety standards are maintained. The Aquatics Manager may also instruct classes depending on staffing levels and needs.

Responsibilities

This list includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Work closely with SafeSplash + SwimLabs General Manager on many business-related duties including, but not limited to:
    • Recruiting, selecting, and converting prospective applicants into SafeSplash and SwimLabs Instructors
    • Scheduling training, classes, staff availability, and ongoing education
  • Manage the training program for SafeSplash instructors. This includes the curriculum and practical training of SafeSplash Level 1 and Level 2 programs.
    • Must be able to communicate detailed SafeSplash training programs to instructors with various levels of experience
    • Maintain the high standard of teaching requirements of SafeSplash Swim School
    • Able to maintain detailed management of training schedules to ensure that training requirements are met for all instructors
  • Develop and communicate continuing education material to instructors.
    • Promote continuing education and development of instructors
    • Communicate SafeSplash training curriculum and develop material needed by local staff
    • Should know current competitive swimming techniques 
  • Manage all of the poolroom and equipment room operations, including ongoing maintenance, cleaning, and chemical usage.
    • CPO Certification required
    • Maintain pools according to local health department requirements
    • Keep the poolroom clean and operational to high SafeSplash standards
    • Manage usage and supply of all chemicals, tools, and equipment 
  • Be Responsible for the understanding and operation of all technology involved with lessons.
    • Maintain computer and camera systems
    • Act as the first responder to technical issues
    • Work with Corporate IT Specialist to address ongoing maintenance and immediate technical issues 
  • Create and maintain a positive work environment for all staff that promotes exceptional lesson quality and outstanding customer service.
    • Maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment
    • Develop a team-based atmosphere that encourages instructors to collaborate and learn from each other

Aquatics Manager - SwimLabs

Job Description

In partner with the Aquatics Director, the manager ensures that all appropriate water health and safety standards are maintained. Coaching may be required dependent on staffing and needs.

  • Work closely with SafeSplash + SwimLabs Operations Manager on many business-related duties including, but not limited to:
  • Recruiting, selecting, and converting prospective applicants into SwimLabs Instructors
  • Scheduling training, classes, staff availability, and ongoing education 
  • Manage the training program for SwimLabs instructors, working with the SafeSplash Aquatics Manager for overlapping staff. This includes the curriculum and practical training of SwimLabs Level 2 and Elite coaches.
    • Must be able to communicate detailed SwimLabs training programs to instructors with various levels of experience
    • Maintain the high standard of teaching requirements of SafeSplash + SwimLabs Swim School
    • Able to maintain detailed management of training schedules to ensure that training requirements are met for all instructors 
  • Manage Review Process for Instructors
    • Schedule and manage the Quarterly Review process, including oversight of the Peer-to-Peer program
    • In collaboration with the SafeSplash + SwimLabs Operations Manager, conduct annual reviews for all instructors
    • Must be able to critique employee performance and communicate feedback effectively
    • Must be able to identify employee deficiencies and provide supplemental training
  • Develop and communicate continuing education material to instructors.
    • Promote continuing education and development of instructors
    • Communicate SwimLabs training curriculum and develop material needed by local staff
    • Should know current competitive swimming techniques 
  • Work with the SafeSplash Aquatics Manager and assist in the care of all poolroom and equipment room operations, including ongoing maintenance, cleaning, and chemical usage.
