Why does my child need swimming lessons?

Swimming is not only fun and empowering, it’s also an essential life skill that will make your kids safer. Whether they’re splashing in a kiddie pool, perfecting their cannonball technique at a backyard party, or trying to catch waves at the beach, all Anaheim kids can benefit from being stronger, safer swimmers.

But why is learning how to swim so important? Sadly, drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for kids under the age of 4. Swimming lessons equip kids with the skills and experiences they need to be safer around water.

Our Water Safety Curriculum

Swimming lessons are 30 minutes long for all class types. We offer Private (1:1) and Semi-private (2:1) lessons. You can also book multiple lessons back-to-back at your pool.

We know consistency is key to skill development and progress and encourage all students to swim with us at least one lesson per week. We also offer SwimJams which are scheduled for multiple days a week - the ultimate for more rapid skill development.

When it comes to choosing swimming lessons, we know you have plenty of options. We also know exactly what young swimmers and their families need to have the best experience possible. Our warm water pools and small class sizes help SafeSplash stand out, but it’s our proven curriculum that has been designed by a team of world class swimmers and with the help of Olympic Champion, Missy Franklin, that ensures your child learns all of the skills they need to know. Our swim lesson program includes:

  • A progressive curriculum focused on water safety, skill development, and proper swimming technique for the four fundamental swim strokes.
  • Experienced, passionate, SafeSplash Certified instructors who have completed extensive classroom and in-water training programs, along with a series of instructor-shadowing sessions.
  • Our commitment to match the instructor’s teaching style to the needs of each swimmer through our SafeSplash Match program.
  • Regular updates on your swimmer’s progress through our skill tracking, progress reports, and Splash-N-Tell program. With Splash-N-Tell, parents are invited to the last 10 minutes of class to talk with the instructor and let their child show off their new skills.

Right from the beginning, every SafeSplash Anaheim student learns the basics of water safety and the correct way to swim. We believe swimmers need to develop swim skills that not only allow them to float, but to also move themselves to safety as confident, efficient swimmers. Having a correct, efficient swim stroke enables swimmers to move themselves out of potentially dangerous situations. As their skills increase, they’ll become more and more confident… both in the pool and in everyday life.

The lesson plans we use were developed by a team of world-class swimmers with over 30 years of teaching experience. We have 12 unique teaching levels that pair perfectly with our progressive teaching approach. Your swimmer will learn to swim at their own pace in a learning environment that emphasizes skill retention and having fun.

Infant Swim Lessons

Infant & Toddler Swim Lessons

We offer infant and toddler swim lessons as early as 6 months of age to help build confidence and get your infant comfortable in the water. Our small ParentTot classes are a great way for parents to bond and socialize with their kiddos while teaching vital water safety skills like breath control, floating and kicking. We also offer Toddler Transition classes for kiddos ages 18-36 months. Parents join their swimmers poolside until they are ready to transition to a small group class without a parent nearby. Both classes focus on foundational water safety skills as well as developing a comfort in the water, which are crucial in developing swimming skills.

Adult Swim Lessons

Adult Swim Lessons

Whether you are just starting out, overcoming a fear of water or you are looking to refine your swim skills, our program gives adult swimmers at every level the opportunity to improve their skills. We offer a variety of class types for adults from small group classes to semi-private and private lessons. It’s never too late to learn this critical life skill. Our passionate instructors can help you overcome your fear and open the opportunity of enjoying the water.

Private Lessons

PRIVATE & SEMI-PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS

Our private swim lessons allow swimmers of all ages and levels to progress through our curriculum at their own pace with one of our certified swim instructors. Each 30 minute class will be customized around mastering the skills to become a better, stronger, safer swimmer. Private and semi-private lessons (two swimmers with one instructor) are great options if you are looking for more time focused on your individual swimmer or siblings wanting to be in the same class.

Special Needs Swim Lessons

SPECIAL NEEDS SWIM LESSONS

Swimming is a life skill for all and it can also have tremendous therapeutic benefits. Being in water can soothe sensory overload, provide relief from physical discomfort, and provide students with a sense of independence. In addition to teaching water safety skills, swimming lessons can also improve balance, coordination, strength, and range of motion. At SafeSplash Swim School we have a team of certified instructors with various training and experience in working with students with special or unique needs. We encourage meeting with you and your swimmer prior to starting lessons to discuss your goals and develop a customized teaching plan that meets the needs of your family.

Swim Team Prep

SWIM TEAM PREP

The SafeSplash Wave® program is an endurance, strength, and swim team prep program that takes swimmers who already have knowledge of the competitive swimming strokes and want to refine their swimming skills. Our Wave program is broken up into swimmer groups based on swimmer ability, physical conditioning and current knowledge of the strokes in accordance to USA Swimming standards and our SafeSplash curriculum. Each session includes a set workout with an out of water coach whose primary goal is to mimic the experience one would have on a recreational swim team.
