We are excited to annouce that Corey was chosen as our employee of the month for our Aurora location. Corey truly shows his passion that he not only has for his kids, but also their parents. He has so much fun when he is teaching and really gets down to the kids level for each individual child. He is a great team member and always helps out his co-workers and managers. Congratulations Corey! Thanks for all your hardwork!
Let’s get to know Corey a little better
Q: Why do you love being a swim instructor?
A: I like being able to teach people lifelong skills. I try to make fun memorable experiences for lifetime memories.
Q: What is your best tip or trick for other instructors?
A: Have patience. Everything will happen in time. I try to go with the flow to ease my students into their niche allowing them to build their self esteem.
Q: Do you have a favorite level to teach and why?
A: I love the babies because their smiles make the lessons worthwhile.
Q: What hobbies do you have outside of SafeSplash?
A: I devote a lot of my time to my Native American community through our non-profit organization. It is called the Colorado Native American Church Incorporated. Through this organization we practice and preserve our heritage in this modern world.
Q: Do you have a fun, crazy, most memorable swimming experience that you would like to share?
A: I love the sport of swimming because it has carried me a long way from my childhood to now. I was fortunate to compete in the North American Indigenous Games for Team Colorado and placed in 3 events in the Native Olympics against my fellow Indian people through culture, athletics and tribal pride. Having that discipline and respect for the sport has taught me many life lessons and that is why I continue to teach and pass on my experiences.
